We’re proud of the Class of 2006. Our graduates have achieved for all the right reasons: quality teachers and high expectations, parent and community support, high standards and accountability, commitment and dedication. Whether they’re off to college, joining the work force, or entering the military, we know they are ready for the challenges that await them. They are equipped with the skills of powerful literacy. And, they possess the right combination of work ethic, civic responsibility, and attitude to access challenging options and opportunities at this important phase of their lives.
Norfolk Public Schools graduates are among the best and the brightest. It’s obvious that others recognize excellence when they see it also. Last year’s graduates were awarded nearly $11 million in grants and scholarships. We expect this year’s final scholarship dollars to be even greater. After all this year, $1?2 million will be presented to our Broad Scholars as the result of winning the prestigious 2005 Broad Prize for Urban Education.
Norfolk Public Schools is an award-winning school system committed to excellence. With the support of all stakeholders, we will reach our goal of becoming a world-class school system by 2010. The quality of this year’s graduating class is testimony that we are well on our way!
