Aaliyah Earvin, a 7th grade student at Norview Middle School, entered a state wide writing contest to win her own Violin outfit, case & bow. The contest and the donation of the violin outfit was sponsored by The Virginia Music Education Association & the Virginia American String Teachers' Association.

Every Monday and Thursday after school, approximately 30 students at Ghent Elementary meet with teacher Cheryl Feinburg to set goals and exercise by running. The running club's main objectives are to motivate students to become fit and learn to appreciate the rewards of exercise. Following each session, students write in journals about how they felt and how far they've run or walked.
