Nearly 400 students at the Norfolk Technical Center recently took part in mock interviews. Administrators and members of the community interviewed and evaluated the students. The goal was to prepare these students for future interviews.

During a break from their rehearsals for the International Azalea Festival’s Military Tattoo, the 9- piece Marine Corps Boogie Band played for students and staff at P. B. Young Elementary. The marines who “boogied on down” to P. B. Young not only entertained, they taught the children about the instruments and playing techniques. Near the end of the performance, band members took questions from the receptive audience. The performance also met requirements for K-5 music SOLs.

Norfolk Public Schools is proud to announce the winners in the Future Problem Solving State Bowl competition. Congratulations to the following students for receiving third place in the Junior Division Team competition: Joel Caffey, Xavier Edwards, Alexandria Persaud, and Nia Williams from Ruffner Middle School; and Katelynn Stanley of Meadowbrook. Barbara Patterson, NPS gifted resource teacher, coached the winning team.
Approximately 60 teams from across Virginia participated in this event held on April 11-12. These students prepared for the competition at the after school Citywide Arts and Sciences program held at Rosemont Middle School.
