Salary Scale Changes Proposed for 2008-2009

Dr. Stephen Jones

Each year the school system faces the difficult challenge of balancing the need to reward employees with the reality of limited resources. Last year, we were able to begin addressing some issues of pay inequity for our dedicated classified employees. This year we hope to do the same for our hard-working teachers and administrators. However, to offer a long-term solution that benefits our employees while also minding the health of the school system requires that we fundamentally alter our teacher pay scale.

To that end, Dr. Jones has proposed a new teacher pay scale to the School Board. A letter outlining the need for this plan was sent to teachers on Wednesday, March 5. You also can hear an audio message sent to staff on Thursday, March 6. Staff should be sure to review the additional details and the answers to frequently asked questions provided online.
