District Wide Braille Awareness Project Up & Running

District Wide Braille Awareness Project Up & RunningThe Norfolk Public Schools (NPS) Program for Students with Visual Impairments in collaboration with Easton Preschool, seed money from the Norfolk Little Creek Lions Club and a $1,000 grant from the Lions Charity Foundation of District 24D, announces the establishment of the Braille Awareness Project. The goal of this project is to provide the opportunity for NPS teachers to expose their Pre K - twelfth grade students to Braille. This includes special needs and general education students to this unique alternate medium of written communication, via dual print - Braille books. These books have Braille, print and pictures making them suitable for visually impaired and sighted children and adults to share. Some illustrations and titles include tactile and 3 dimensional graphics. Secondly it increases in-house access to literature for those who use Braille as their primary literacy medium.

Rear Admiral Inspects Lake Taylor's NJROTC

Rear Admiral Stephen S. Voetsch visited the Lake Taylor High School NJROTC recently to conduct an inspection and learn more about the Academy of Leadership and Military Science. Overall, the students impressed the admiral with their skills and dedication to the program.

Kid Pan Alley Songwriting Workshop scheduled for Taylor Elementary School

Paul Reisler, Kathy Hussey & Paddy Dougherty will conduct a Kid Pan Alley Songwriting Workshop on Feb. 4-15 at Taylor Elementary School. Students will create original songs and participate in afternoon and evening performances for the school community.
