LEGOs are made for more than just building tall towers or constructing space ships and flying objects. They were used for personal healing by Michelle Seebode, cafeteria manager at Bayview Elementary School, while passing the time as she was recovering from cancer surgery earlier this year.
"After my surgery in May, I was having a hard time being still and relaxing,” shares Seebode. Her childhood interest in LEGOS gave her another outlet that became more than just a hobby, but a message about breast cancer.
She took her passion for LEGOs and constructed a colorful, eye-catching bra using LEGO pieces and entered it into the Chesapeake Regional Medical Center’s annual Bra-ha-ha event. The annual Bra-Ha-Ha showcases the most creative bra concepts in an effort to raise awareness about breast cancer. Seebode’s entry was selected as the winner for the Most Creative Bra and was on display at MacArthur Center Mall.
Her LEGOs bra is one of six chosen from among 300 entries to travel across the United States for exhibits at different locations to bring attention to breast cancer.
On a placard next to her LEGO bra, she shares a special message using the word LEGOs that reads, “I built and learned to Laugh and Live Life, Encourage and Enjoy Everything, Give Gifts Graciously, and Offer Others Sweet Smiles of Success.”
