Health Department extends deadline to register for free Tdap immunizations

Did you know that rising sixth-graders must have an updated Tdap immunization in order to begin middle school in the fall?

Each year, a number of sixth-graders are unable to begin school on time after Labor Day because they have not received their immunization. To avoid this problem, the Norfolk Department of Public Health is once again offering a special service to families of NPS fifth-graders: free Tdap immunizations through elementary school nurses.

This year's immunizations will be offered at all Norfolk elementary schools on April 24. Parents should return the permission forms to their elementary schools no later than Wednesday, April 18.
