NPS offers summer staff development institute for employees

The school year has ended, and students, families and staff members are looking forward to a well-deserved break. Meanwhile, NPS will be preparing for another wonderful school year in 2012-13.

The Department of Curriculum and Professional Development will offer a number of training opportunities for staff, including the NPS Summer Institute in August. 

The NPS Summer Institute is a program offered exclusively to the staff of Norfolk Public Schools. Topics include:

• Unpacking the Virginia Standards of Learning
• The new Teacher Performance Evaluation System
• Schoolnet
• Interactive Achievement
• STAR Reading & Math
• PD360 & Observation 360
• ArtsConnect
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention

Elementary sessions will be held August 6 & 7, 2012, and secondary sessions will be held August 8 & 9, all at Granby High School.

Teachers, assistant principals, principals and district-level administrators are encouraged to attend. Registration will begin July 16, 2012.
