No cash, no worries! Norfolk Public Schools has embraced a new technology that will enable you to register for school breakfast and lunch online. MealpayPlus is a new system with free registration designed to make providing school meals as easy as logging in to the internet, so you don’t have to send cash or checks to school with your child.
By registering with MealpayPlus, you can put money on your child’s account, make split payments for multiple students in one or more NPS schools and receive low balance e-mail reminders.
But the most exciting feature about the new online system is that as a parent you can monitor what your child is purchasing in the cafeteria! Each time your child purchases a meal, the systems notates what the money is being spent on, be it mashed potatoes and meatloaf, green beans or orange slices.
“This system is a great way for parents to discuss with their child what they are choosing to eat,” said Helen Phillips, senior director of School Nutrition. “Even parents who don’t want to put money on the account can register with MealpayPlus and monitor their child’s eating habits.”
