Madison Hahn Breaks Records

madison_hahnSenior Madison Hahn of Maury High School accomplished her goal of setting all of the school's swimming records. Recently, Madison broke the 500 Free record with a time of 5:07.86 beating the previous record of 5:10.92. She broke the 100 fly and 100 breast stroke records earlier in the season.

 
Madison has signed to swim for the University of Tennessee.
 

Granby HS student wins international opportunity

tyler_bageTyler Bage, a ninth-grader at Granby High School, was awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Norfolk Sister City Association to visit Norfolk's sister city in Germany - Wilhelmshaven. The Norfolk Sister City Association coordinates the activities of Norfolk's sister cities programs, which aim to foster international understanding, friendship and cooperation through people-to-people exchanges between Norfolk and its nine sister cities. Tyler will spend three weeks in Germany this summer, staying with a host family and visiting Berlin.

 

Maury High School Student Receives Honor

squiresMaury High School's Margaret Squires received a $1,000 college scholarship from the Norfolk Southern Corporation as part of the company's annual scholarship program in partnership with the National Merit Scholarship program.  She is also a National Merit Scholarship winner based on her high PSAT scores.
 

NTC students win state honors

FBLA_winnersThe Norfolk Tehnical Center Chapter of Future Business Leaders of America brought several honors and awards home to NPS when they returned recently from the Virginia FBLA Conference in Reston. Alec Herrera, local chapter president, was selected for Who's Who in Virginia FBLA. Danyelle Charles was honored by receiving 4th place in Electronic Career Portfolio. Christopher Creason was one of two students selected from the state by Factor 110, the media production company for the Virginia FBLA State Leadership Conference, to serve as a Media Production Backstage Manager. Christopher received a $100 stipend  for his work. Overall, the NTC FBLA chapter was one of 10 state chapters that received the title of Honorable Mention for an Annual Business Report. NTC's group also was recognized as an FBLA Honor Chapter.

 

Norview Elementary School Prinicpal Wins Award

drcoxDr. Sandra Cox of Norview Elementary School has won the prestigious Don Lacey Award for Excellence through the Virginia Association of Elementary School Principals. The award recognizes Dr. Cox's strong commitment to her profession and her educational leadership for the benefit of students.
