The automotive training program at Norfolk Technical Center (NTC) in Norfolk has received accreditation by NATEF and The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).

National recognition for a job well done is what Robyn Bumbry, Executive Secretary to the Associate Superintendent for Business & Finance, received when she was named the 2012 National Association of Educational Office Professionals (NAEOP) Olive T. Richie Office Professional of the Year.
The road to success began when Ms. Bumbry won Norfolk Public Schools' AEOPN Office Professional of the Year award in 2010. Then she was nominated for and won the Virginia Association of Educational Office Professional (VAEOP) state title in 2011. The VAEOP nominated Robyn to represent the state for the national title.
Ms. Bumbry is proud to hold the distinction as the only AEOPN member to receive this prestigious award. She will receive the award at the NAEOP Annual Conference in Costa Messa, CA in July.

Ms. Clarice Steeley, Office Manager of Madison Alternative Center, has been named the Office Professional of the Year by the Association for Educational Office Professionals of Norfolk. The AEOPN includes members of NPS' support staff, and annually recognizes those outstanding staff members and their supervisors at Bosses' Night. Ms. Steeley's award was presented at the 46th Annual AEOPN Bosses' Night.

Dr. Marjorie Stealey, award-winning Principal of Norview High School, has received another accolade. Dr. Stealey has been named Administrator of the Year by the Association of Educational Office Professionals of Norfolk, a group that includes members of NPS' support staff.
In 2010, Dr. Stealey was named Virginia's "Outstanding High School Principal" by her peers in the Virginia Association of Secondary School Principals(VASSP). The National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) also selected her as one of the three high school national finalists in 2011

Mr. Shawn Ellis, a math teacher at Maury High School, has been named Norfolk's Citywide Teacher of the Year. Mr. Ellis now will compete with other top teachers from around Virginia for the statewide title. The announcement came on Thursday, May 31, 2012 during NPS' second-annual Evening of Excellence honoring Teachers of the Year and Inspiration Award nominees, as well as their administrators and invited guests. The Oscar-style gala was funded by the Norfolk Education Foundation.
