NAME: Toni W. Saunders
TITLE: Office Manager, St. Helena Elementary
YEARS WITH NPS: 9
WHAT’S THE MOST REWARDING THING ABOUT WHAT YOU DO?
Knowing that I am helping people is the most rewarding aspect of my job. When someone comes in or calls and is frustrated or even angry, and I can give them what they need and turn their negative experience into a positive experience, makes me very proud of what I do.
IF YOU COULD TELL THE WHOLE COMMUNITY ONE THING ABOUT NPS, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
That there are great things happening in NPS’ schools daily. We are a team and we all wear whatever hat necessary at the moment to get the job done. No one in the school is bigger than the mission of the school.
WHAT’S SOMETHING YOUR COWORKERS DO NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU?
(Ex: I am a poet and enjoy reading my work at “open mic.” events. Also, this summer, after many years, I returned to the stage in a local production. It was invigorating!
WHAT WAS THE LAST BOOK YOU READ OR MOVIE YOU SAW, AND WOULD YOU RECOMMEND IT TO OTHERS?
The last book I read was The Help, by Kathryn Stockett and my last movie was “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.” Both were excellent!
DID YOU ATTEND NORFOLK PUBLIC SCHOOLS? IF SO, WHICH ONES AND WHEN?
DO YOU HAVE CHILDREN IN NPS? IF SO, WHAT ARE THEIR AGES, AND WHICH SCHOOLS DO THEY ATTEND?
I am proud to be a former NPS student- I attended Camp Allen and Stuart Elementary, Blair Middle, and Maury High. My sons are 12 and 17. Brian is a senior at Granby High School and Julien has returned to NPS from private school after 5 years and is in the 7th grade at Blair Middle School.
